Hawes, it seems like you want to tell us something about Neil.
My video game interest comes and goes. Right now I don't play anything except an almost-weekly WoW thing with some friends, and the occasional 10-minute diversion on the old NES Emulator (Battle of Olympus! Woot!) while I'm waiting for computers to reimage or whatever.
I think the rhetoric behind almost every use of the word "addiction" is suspect, personally, but I am a little concerned about such involved, immersive games, when they impart an actual sense of accomplishment after completing some arduous in-game task. This can lead to cyclical behavior that leaves the dishes piling up. "I just killed seven hundred of this thing and got a bad-ass mace! That was hard! I should relax, now! I should relax by playing video games! Hey look, a quest to kill 800 things and get a cool mace!"
etc.
I had a lot more to say but I erased it all.
EDIT:
Nathan, I just applied for a job in your building.

matt- i agree, the rhetoric is pretty stupid. the way i see it, it basically hyperinflates the definition of addiction to encompass anything that is habitual behavior and conflates behavioral issues with chemical ones. you might as well say that i am addicted to having cream in my coffee; it is about as relevant. sure, an excess or extreme imbalance might not be that healthy, but it's just not the same thing as taking my coffee with heroin.
but yes, the article is pretty interesting nonetheless.

this is actually pretty funny.
i was directed to that from pandagon, where they pointed out that it's also a pretty faithful remake of the original.
edit: because i’m just that sort of geek, i opened 2 windows side by side and
played them simultaneously, with the sound synchronized. they match up almost seamlessly shot for shot. it really is impressive work.

Well Matt, when we die on the game grid we go before Crom and if we don't tell him the riddle of compounding interest for a savings and loan then he will laugh at us. That is of course provided that Sark doesn't de-rez him for mocking his quest to find the holy grail.
You forgot that overlap, didn't you?
Well, for allowing me to be a giant nrrrd on the interwebz I offer you this token of my appreciation:

no mention of londo as arnold schwarzenegger's personal savior however.
if you can decipher that joke, you're an even bigger nerd than me. and that's saying something.
also,
i put it before the committee that "hippie" has become a term of opprobrium, and needs to be reclaimed, like "queer" and "geek" and "thug-wilin' wegro".
