After seeing the same saccharine, "inspirational" Succesories© print for the four-billionth time during our harrowing adventures posing as menial office workers, something evil started building inside of us.  Something needed to be done.  Unfortunately, while we were doing it, the hilarious folks at Despair already had the same idea, sort of.  What they did, clever chaps that they are, is invert the focus of Succesories©, highlighting humanity's weaknesses (failure and tragedy) instead of its strengths.  What always bothered us is, a lot of the supposed virtues of humanity extolled by Sccuessories© and their parasitic knock-offs can actually be the agents behind some of the most horrific crimes ever perpetrated on this Earth.  Failure is funny, but it didn't build Gulags.  Pro-active thinking did.  Action-Item lists did.  Human ingenuity discovers new torture methods as often as it cures diseases.

So we kept the original quote from each of our (least) favorite Successories© and Successories©-like motivational office propaganda, and changed only the picture.  We felt that oftentimes there was an image more demonstrative of their chosen subject matter than a soaring eagle, aircraft carrier, or extreme sports enthusiast.  And since most of the quotes were found to be in the public domain, we're probably not even breaking the law, since Successories© seems to extend their vehemently expressed copyrights only to their original photography, which we wouldn't even steal if you paid us.  The images we culled from various sources that neither implied nor explicitly expressed a copyright.  If you took one of these pictures, please let us know.  These images are also disturbing, on purpose.  Lest we think to much of ourselves when we're vying for "office monkey of the year" and suppose that our daily drudgery means more than a paycheck, or that humanity is a perfect species, capable of doing no wrong if we only realize our full potential.  We thought people should be reminded of what our potential has been.  Self-congratulation without vigilance and restraint is the most dangerous force on Earth.

We aren't trying to run down every human achievement.  We are trying to point out the ridiculousness and hypocrisy of companies like Succesories© and its ilk, who cater to the growing cadre of jargon-spouting middle managers who truly believe in this horrific version of human achievement.  Those who believe that photographs of cute little penguins can bring the awesome beauty of the human animal to an insurance office.  Those who think they can and should be changing the world, one TPS Report at a time.  Those who have never embraced the most fundamental of all human lessons:  One person really can make a difference, but most of time, they shouldn't.
